  15. <p>     DIED. Harry Reasoner, 68, avuncular television newsman who
  16. brought a droll flavor to his reporting for CBS News, especially
  17. on 60 Minutes, which he helped launch in 1968; of
  18. cardiopulmonary arrest; in Norwalk, Conn. Starting at CBS in
  19. 1956, Reasoner wrote and reported for daily newscasts, specials
  20. and CBS Reports. Convinced he'd never get the chance to anchor
  21. the CBS Evening News while Walter Cronkite was still there,
  22. Reasoner jumped to ABC in 1970. Network chiefs angered Reasoner
  23. in 1976 when they hired Barbara Walters to be co-host of the ABC
  24. Evening News. He returned to CBS in 1978.
